Evaluating Sites Quality Information Checklist - Be sure to evaluate the information you find on the Internet for purpose, clarity, timeliness, bias, etc. Use this guide to help you out!
Credible Sources Count! - A nice tutorial that goes through how to evaluate sites. Good example and non-example sites. From Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada

Search Engines Ask Kids - Type in a key word or question. Click on Images to search for pictures.
YAHOO! KIDS - Web guide for kids. Search by word or category.
Internet Public Library - Incredible source (kids version). Almanacs, Biographies, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, etc.
Google - Use only if preferences have been set to Strict Filtering, and then use with adult permission and supervision.
Kid's Search Tools - Contains the above search engines, dictionaries, thesaurus, etc. all in one place!
KidsClick! - Web search for kids created by librarians.
Super Cool Guide for Finding Stuff on the Web - Search by key word or category.
All in One Search Tool Site - This TekMom site combines great search engines for kids, as well as other search tools including science, history, pictures, dictionaries, biographies, authors, and maps.

Topeka Public Library Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library - Access the Library Catalog to see if books are available.
Other Search Tools SIRS Discoverer - Access to magazine, newspaper, encyclopedia articles and more. This is a paid subscription. E-mail Mrs. Bruce if you need to access it at home.
Exploring Nature - Fantastic Database with great illustrations and some videos of animals, plants, etc.! Type in "Auburn" for the username, and the primary student password.
Academy of Achievement - A museum of living history from Washington, DC. Incredible interviews of each person.

Yahoo! Kids Biography Directory - A quick look at various biographies of famous Americans.

Biographies for Kids - Quick categories of admirable people.
