Farley Elementary
It is hard to believe that we are less than four months away from opening the doors of Farley Elementary to students for the 2009-2010 school year! We wanted to send a note to all families who live in the new attendance area and let you know about the transition plans we are making.

First, on May 14th at 5:30 we are hosting a meeting for all parents to share information, answer questions, and lay the groundwork for forming a Farley Elementary parent organization. We hope many of you will be able to attend. The meeting will be held at the Shuler Education Center at 53rd & Wanamaker Road.

After we have had a chance to meet with parents I will be hitting the road to visit with your children in their current schools. We will be gathering with groups of students who will be moving. This will give us an opportunity to ease the transition process and assess what issues we might need to address with students.

On August 6th from 5:00 to 6:30 we are going to give you and your students a special sneak preview of the new school. This will be the first time the building is opened to the public and is reserved just for families attending Farley Elementary.

We have received several questions about childcare programs at Farley Elementary. A before and after school care program will be operated there by the YMCA of Topeka. Similar programs are already offered by the YMCA at several of our other schools. If you need more information you can contact Terri Steinman at 354-8591.

I am very excited about this opportunity to be part of a new school community. I am sure all of us are going to see both new and familiar faces as we begin to come together. I am looking forward to this wonderful new beginning. If anyone has questions prior to the parent meeting please feel free to contact the number we have already set up for Farley Elementary (408-8300).

Sincerely,

Marcy Cassidy
