On Wednesday, September 16 2009, Farley Elementary was officially dedicated having been named for Dr. Jerry & Susan Farley.
The ceremony was from 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM and was followed by tours of the building led by student volunteers.
The ribbon cutting ceremony began with performances by the Washburn Rural High School Marching Band and Flag Squad. Principal
Marcy Cassidy welcomed everyone to the ceremony followed by speeches from Superintendent Dr. Brenda Dietrich, School Board
President William Sneed, and Washburn University President Dr. Jerry Farley. After the speeches William Sneed, Dr. Jerry
& Susan Farley, and three students cut the ribbon together.
After the ribbon cutting everyone was invited to take a tour of the building and to the school library for cookies. Student
volunteers helped conduct the tours.
